Surah Muhammad · Ayah 18

“Await they aught save the Hour, that it should come upon them unawares? And the beginnings thereof have already come. But how, when it hath come upon them, can they take their warning?”

“Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition?”

“Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then what good to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance?”

“তারা শুধু এই অপেক্ষাই করছে যে, কেয়ামত অকস্মাৎ তাদের কাছে এসে পড়ুক। বস্তুতঃ কেয়ামতের লক্ষণসমূহ তো এসেই পড়েছে। সুতরাং কেয়ামত এসে পড়লে তারা উপদেশ গ্রহণ করবে কেমন করে ?”

“اب تو یہ لوگ قیامت ہی کو دیکھ رہے ہیں کہ ناگہاں ان پر آ واقع ہو۔ سو اس کی نشانیاں (وقوع میں) آچکی ہیں۔ پھر جب وہ ان پر آ نازل ہوگی اس وقت انہیں نصیحت کہاں (مفید ہوسکے گی؟)”
